Adam Maisen, LPC-S
Owner/Clinical Director/Therapist
Hi there! I want to personally welcome you to Refuge Counseling of Arkansas. I am so glad that you checked us out. Our passion is helping the people we serve learn to feel safe and secure with themselves and in their important relationships.
As a husband and a father, I know that doing the family thing is hard work and overwhelming at times. I also believe that it can be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. I have advanced training in EFCT and specifically love working with couples that find deep connection to be unaccessible.
My personal approach to couple counseling is experiential. We will use interventions to explore what is getting in the way of your connection, including attachment injuries, betrayal, and unmet emotional needs. We will then work in session to create a new experience that leads to secure, responsive, and engaged intimacy.

We all experience times in our life when things don’t go the way we hoped. Our lives feel like a juggling act sometimes with relationships, jobs, and responsibilities hanging in the balance. You are not alone, and you are not losing your mind. The thoughts and experiences you are experiencing are valid, and I am here for you. Regardless of your experiences or how you identify, I accept you just as you are.
As we work together to develop strategies to help you navigate the challenges of life, you will begin to find that you are stronger and more resilient than you ever thought possible.
I provide weekend and evening services. Contact me directly.

Stress and anxiety have been a big part of my life as a teenager and into my adult years. I love working with teens, young adults, and stressed-out moms to overcome the thoughts that steal your joy and peace.
I am also equipped to help distressed couples create deeper, more connected engagement that leads to emotional security, safety, and mutual support
Life is full of all kinds of things pulling for your attention and demands that seem impossible to meet. I see you, and I want to provide a safe place for your healing. Life has taught me that being human is complicated. It seems like a lot of people have a lot of expectations about who and what you should be. This, along with the challenges that you face such as loss, injuries in relationships, and the pain that comes with it is almost too much to bear. I see, respect, and recognize that you are a unique person with your own perspectives and experience.
My favorite thing about therapy is the opportunity to collaborate with clients. We will find and build on your inner strength that helps you thrive even in hard times. Together, we will explore fear, emptiness, shame, and anything that is holding you back from experiencing your true self. All of this is completely normal to the human experience, and I am here for it. Whatever you are dealing with, I promise to provide a safe, patient, and accepting space. I can’t wait to meet you!
I am scheduling immediate weekend and evening telehealth appointments to accomodate your busy schedule.
